White January On Cansiglio Hills

Life is made up of small pleasures. Happiness is made of those tiny successes. The big ones come too infrequently, and if you don't collect all these tiny successes, the big ones don't really mean anything. - Norman Lear

We've always wanted to go to a place where the landscapes meet abundant snow. We fast thought about Cansiglio. Cansiglio is a vast plateau of the Belluno Prealps, surrounded by the homonymous forest, located between Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, between the provinces of Belluno, Treviso, and Pordenone, at an altitude between 900m and 1200m above sea level. The geographical area of the Alpago, mainly in the territories of the municipalities of Tambre, Fregona, Caneva, and Alpago. It is long famous for its green landscapes, plains, and forests.

Some days ago, we chose to spend the bright sunny day there. Little did we know that it's been snowing here, in Cansiglio, for a while. We had no plan of playing winter sports but we just wanted to go out and get some fresh air, what we found actually better than what we expected.

We started from San DonĂ  di Piave around 9 and we took a smooth driving to Capella di Majore because we wanted to have a nice lunch in our favorite American-style restaurant: Earlston Steak House.

That day was a sunny wintry day. The sun was blinding yet the cold sensation made your body shivered. Anyhow, it was such a perfect day to have a little walk because, why not? as long as you have the sun you'll be alright!

We arrived in Pian di Cansiglio around 2.30 pm and as soon as we saw that snowy panorama, we stopped and prepared our tripod and camera. We didn't need flash kits because the sun gave a perfect light, couldn't ask for the better.

The sky was crystal clear, bright blue color with a dash of white lines. It seemed so dreamy..

It's unbelievable that not many people pay attention to how beautiful this place is. People mostly just pass down the road and stop by the bar to have a cup of espresso or maybe some beers, but none actually go down and take pictures like the way we did.

We felt like this place belongs to us exclusively..

Even Dario appeared to be really happy. He played the snow by stepping on it occasionally...

Crash course on 'How to make a beautiful snowball, with papĂ , of course)

After 2 hours playing snow, taking pictures and videos etc, we headed home. For Dario, we believe, spending too much time in an open area in winter with such a chilly wind isn't a good idea. So, we packed and drove home while listening to baby shark song (Dario's fav song, of course!)

There you go, another beautiful day spent with the beloved ones.
You know, in life, the smiles of the people you love the most are the most important thing in the universe. The rest won't matter!
